Capri & Positano Private Boat Tour from Sorrento: Departure

Your journey begins at Marina Piccola in Sorrento. Step aboard your private vessel, meet your bilingual local captain, and settle in with a cold drink as you set sail along the coastline.

2. Scenic Cruise & Swim Stops

Before heading across the bay, your captain will chart a course past historic coastal landmarks:

  • Regina Giovanna Baths & Punta Campanella: Marvel at ancient Roman ruins meeting natural sea pools and pass the rugged tip where the Gulf of Naples meets the Gulf of Salerno
  • Li Galli Islands: Anchor near this legendary private archipelago, said to be the home of the Sirens in Greek mythology, for your first swim and snorkel stop in crystal-clear waters.

3. Arrival in Positano & Free Time

As you approach Positano, the “Vertical City” reveals its legendary skyline of pastel-hued houses stacked dramatically against the cliffs.

  • Go ashore for 1 to 2 hours of free time to wander through narrow cobblestone alleys
  • Browse boutique shops offering custom handmade leather sandals and iconic linen attire
  • Visit the Church of Santa Maria Assunta or relax with a view at Spiaggia Grande

4. Coastal Sightseeing & Seaside Lunch

Reboard your boat and cruise past the secluded coves of Tordigliano and Fiordo di Crapolla. For lunch, ask your captain to dock at a waterfront restaurant in Nerano or Marina del Cantone. Indulge in fresh seafood and local pasta specialties like Spaghetti alla Nerano (zucchini and local cheese) right by the water’s edge.

5. Crossing over to Capri: Grottos & Natural Wonders

Set course for the glamorous island of Capri. Cruise around the island’s perimeter to experience its most iconic natural wonders:

  • Marvel at the Grottos: Pause at the White Grotto (Grotta Bianca) and Green Grotto for swimming and snorkeling beneath luminous limestone formations
  • Faraglioni Rocks: Sail directly between Capri’s towering sea stacks for the ultimate Mediterranean photo opportunity
  • Punta Carena Lighthouse & Blue Grotto: Pass the historic lighthouse at the southern tip, with the option to pause for a visit to the world-famous Blue Grotto

6. Capri Island Exploration

Spend dedicated free time on land. Ride the funicular up to Capri town to stroll the high-end designer shopping street of Via Camerelle, grab a gelato in the lively Piazzetta, or take in panoramic views from the Augustus Gardens.

7. Sunset Return to Sorrento

As late afternoon approaches, pop a bottle of Prosecco and relax on deck. Enjoy the warm golden hour light reflecting off the coastal cliffs as your captain smoothly navigates back to Sorrento Marina.

Travelers might ask if they can be picked up directly from their hotel. This depends on whether your hotel has a private pier (like Il San Pietro). Most tours depart from the main dock in Sorrento (where we are) or Positano, Amalfi, Capri etc (Ps we can also pick you up from the last mentioned docks). For a private tour we are at your disposal.

This is a highlight for many. Popular spots like Restaurant Cantuccio in Nerano are only accessible (or best reached) by boat. Captains will usually drop you off and wait, but you must book these restaurants weeks in advance. This is a high recommendation if you really desire to enjoy a lunch by the seaside. We can make the reservation for you when you book the boat tour with us, just ask and we will make it happen.
